Cookie Policy

This site sets no cookies of its own. Google’s advertising and analytics tags do, and this page names every one of them.

Last updated: 18 September 2026.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a site asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between page views — a preference, a session, or the fact that you have already seen a particular advert. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixel tags, do the same job by other means; where this page says “cookie” it means all of them.

What this site sets

Nothing. UnitConverter has no login, no saved settings and no shopping basket, so there is no first-party cookie to set. Your conversions are calculated in the page and forgotten when you close the tab.

What Google sets

Two Google products run on every page: AdSense, which pays for the site, and Analytics 4, which counts visits. Cookie names and lifetimes are Google’s, not ours, and Google can change them; this table is reviewed whenever the tags change.

Third-party cookies used on UnitConverter
Cookie Set by Purpose Category Expires
_ga, _ga_<container-id> Google Analytics 4 Distinguishes one visitor from another and keeps a session together. Analytics 2 years
__gads, __gpi Google AdSense Measures ad interactions, limits how often you see the same ad, and helps detect click fraud. Advertising Up to 13 months
IDE, test_cookie Google DoubleClick (doubleclick.net) Measures and personalises ads across sites, and checks whether your browser accepts cookies at all. Advertising IDE up to 13 months; test_cookie 15 minutes
NID Google Remembers ad preferences such as your opt-out of personalised advertising. Advertising / preference 6 months
FCCDCF, FCNEC Google's consent message (Funding Choices) Stores the consent choice you made, so you are not asked again on every page. Set only where a consent message is shown. Strictly necessary (consent record) Up to 13 months

Your choices

  1. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: nothing above is set until you answer Google’s consent message. Reject, and the advertising and analytics cookies are not written. You can reopen the message from the link it leaves on the page and change your answer later.
  2. Anywhere: turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. Ads still appear, but they stop being chosen from your browsing history.
  3. Analytics: install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on to stop Analytics measuring you on every site, not only this one.
  4. In your browser: every major browser can block or delete third-party cookies from its privacy settings, and a private window discards them when it closes.
  5. Industry opt-outs: aboutads.info/choices, optout.networkadvertising.org and, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

Blocking every cookie above costs you nothing here. The converters are plain JavaScript and work identically with cookies switched off.
