How to convert kilometers to miles
To change kilometers into miles, multiply by 0.621371192237.
miles = kilometers × 0.621371192237
Going the other way: kilometers = miles × 1.609344
1 kilometer = 0.62137119 miles. This factor does not end, so results on this page are rounded.
Worked example
You have 10 kilometers. Multiply by 0.621371192237. 10 × 0.621371192237 = 6.2137 mi.

Before you rely on it
Statute miles, not nautical miles
This page converts to the international mile, the one on road signs in the United States and the UK: exactly 1609.344 meters. A kilometer is therefore about 0.6214 miles, and this direction never comes out exact — every answer is rounded.
The nautical mile used at sea and in aviation is a different unit, exactly 1852 meters and about 15 percent longer. A distance on a nautical chart or a flight plan is almost certainly in nautical miles and should not be converted here.
Race distances are set in kilometers. The table includes the half marathon (21.0975 km) and the marathon (42.195 km) alongside the 5K and 10K, so you can read the mile figure straight off.
For a mental estimate, multiply by 5 and divide by 8: 80 km is about 50 miles. It runs under 1 percent high, which is close enough to read a road sign and not close enough for a training log.
