Which cup? US, metric and label cups differ
This page uses the US customary cup: 8 US fluid ounces, exactly 236.5882365 mL. It is the cup in American recipes and on American measuring cups.
Australia and New Zealand use a metric cup of 250 mL, about 6 percent bigger, and so do most modern Canadian recipes. A recipe from those countries already means 250 mL per cup and needs no conversion here.
US nutrition labels use yet another figure, a 240 mL "legal cup", for serving sizes. It is under 2 percent away from the customary cup, which does not matter in the kitchen but explains why a label and this page can disagree slightly.
